UAN is mandatory
for all employers
NEW DELHI: Retirement fund body EPFO today notified an order to make Universal Account Number (UAN) mandatory for all employers covered under the Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952. "We have notified the draft order to make UAN compulsory for all organisations covered under the EPF & MP Act," EPFO's Central Provident Fund Commissioner KK Jalan said.

map in K'taka ad
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An advertisement carried in a Malaysian magazine allegedly by the Karnataka government has published a distorted map of India with parts of Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast missing from it. The advertisement is for PATA Travel Mart 2015 which will be held at Bengaluru from September 6 to 8 this year. The Karnataka government has, however, denied any role in the advertisement.
Tax benefits likely
on card payments
NEW DELHI: Government on Monday proposed income tax benefits for people making payments through credit or debit cards and doing away with transaction charges on purchase of petrol, gas and rail tickets with plastic money. In a draft paper for moving towards cashless economy and reduce tax avoidance, the government also proposed to make it mandatory to settle high value transactions of more than Rs 1 lakh through electronic mode.
BCCI calls off
Zimbabwe tour
NEW DELHI: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday called off India's proposed tour to Zimbabwe. According to Zee Media sources, the Indian board has opted out of the tour due to broadcasting issues and fatigue factor. It was reported earlier that a cloud of uncertainty prevailed over India's forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe next month with the country's cricket Board saying that the series could be postponed to next year if the ongoing issues between the BCCI and broadcaster are not resolved on time.
