Man in 60s found dead at Vasco railway station

Police appeal to help identify deceased

An unidentified male in his 60s was found dead on Platform 2 at the Vasco Railway Station on Saturday morning.

The discovery was reported by the Deputy Station Master of Vasco Railway Station (South Western Railway), who informed the Vasco Railway Police about the incident.

Upon receiving the information, police personnel visited the spot and confirmed the presence of the deceased.

According to the description provided, the man was thin, stood around 5’4” tall, and had a fair complexion. He was dressed in a cream-coloured long-sleeve round-collar T-shirt and light green jeans.

Following standard protocol, the police completed the necessary legal formalities, and the body was sent to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao for preservation and medico-legal procedures.

Initial investigations suggest that the deceased was likely a beggar or rag-picker and may have died due to illness. No signs of foul play were detected in connection with the death.

The Vasco Railway Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of BNS. Further investigations are being conducted by Police Inspector Amarnath P. Passi of Vasco Railway Police Station.

Authorities have appealed to public to come forward if they have any information that could help identify the deceased.
