23-yr-old Mumbai man dies after collapsing during trekking at beach

A 23-year-old man from Mumbai, who had come to Goa with his friends, has died after he complained of uneasiness and collapsed on the ground while the group was at Butterfly beach.

Cuncolim Police informed that Miral Gala was brought dead to the Primary Health Centre, Balli, on Sunday evening.

An enquiry conducted by the police revealed that the deceased, along with his three friends, had come to Goa on December 5 and were staying in Varca. On December 8, all four went to Butterfly beach where they did trekking. At around 18:30 hrs, they started walking back from the beach. However, while climbing the hill, the deceased complained of uneasiness and requested water. After drinking water, they continued on their scooter, but the deceased began vomiting and suddenly collapsed on the ground. He was immediately shifted to the hospital in Balli, where he was declared brought dead.

The police enquiry conducted so far revealed that no foul play was suspected, and the body of the deceased was referred for a post-mortem examination at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao.

The autopsy certified the cause of death as "pulmonary infarction consequent to occlusion of the pulmonary trunk by thromboemboli in a person with deep vein thrombosis of the right leg" (natural cause). The body has been handed over to the family members for final rites.
