‘Sahasrachandi japa anusthan' at Panaji Mahalaxmi Temple

Shree Goddess Mahalaxmi is the ‘Gramdevi' of Panaji and Taleigao. Shree Mahalaxmi Temple has a rich history and currently the temple is celebrating bi-centenary.

 The people of our generation are blessed to witness this unique milestone. To commemorate this landmark, the temple committee has earmarked year-long celebrations.
This magnificent temple situated in the heart of Panaji city, was established in the Hindu year 1740 i.e. 10th July, 1818. This temple is the landmark of Panaji city and the most frequented temple in the area.
Whilst Lord Shiva, Lord Ravalnath and Grampurush stands on the left of the main temple, Lord Hanuman idol is consecrated in an independent temple on the right hand side on a raised land. Recent past saw the idol of Lord Ganesh installed and consecrated with full religious fervour.
Numerous religious festivals like Gudi Padva, Ram Navmi, Chaitra Poornima Utsav, Akshay Tritiya, Vasant Puja, Shravani Puja, Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, Vaikunta Chaturdashi, Gopal Kala, Malni Poornima, Rathasapthami, Mahashivratri, Holi, etc are celebrated in the temple on a regular basis.
Shree Mahalaxmi Saunsthan Panaji would be completing Dwishatabdi (bicentenary) next year. To mark this auspicious and historic occasion of Shree Mahalaxmi Temple, a year-long ‘Shree Mahalaxmi Saunsthan Dwishatabdi Mahotsav 2017-18' has commenced on the Vardhapan diwas this year i.e. 30th June, 2017 and would continue till Vardhapan diwas in 2018.
Sahasrachandi anusthan has been undertaken, in which japa would be performed for 7 days and havan would be performed for 4 days. Sahasrachandi anusthan is being performed in the temple premises for the first time in the temple history. Other religious ceremonies performed would be Ganahom, Laghurudhra havan, Laghuvishnu havan, Lakshya kumkumarchan, Durga namaskar, Shatakalash abhishek, Mahapurnahuti, etc.
His Holiness Shrimad Vidyadhiraj Tirth Shripad Vader Swamiji & Patta Shishya H H Shrimad Vidyadeesha Tirth Swamiji of Shree Saunsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevotam Mutt would grace the occasion. The Swamijis would arrive at Shree Mahalaxmi Temple by procession, which would commence from Casa Dempo at 6.30 pm on December 7, 2017.
Srinivas Vasudeo Sinai Dempo is the President of Shree Mahalaxmi Dwishatabdi Mahotsav 2017-18 and Yogish Vishnu Sinai Dempo is the President of Shree Mahalaxmi Saunstan, Panaji.
Special Shree Mahalaxmi Sahasrachandi Sankalp Seva receipts from Rs 251 to Rs 50,001 and Shree Mahalaxmi Sahasrachandi Annasantarpan Seva receipts from Rs 5001 to Rs 1,00,001 are available at the temple receipt counters. The temple committee has requested all pious devotees, liberal donors and well wishers to participate wholeheartedly and to contribute generously towards these programmes, thereby making this once in a life time event, a grand success.
