Justifying his decision to quit BJP and join the MG Party, former BJP Sanguem MLA Vasudev Meng Gaonkar on Sunday said he was neglected due to internal politics and he was not taken seriously by senior BJP leaders.
Gaonkar joined the MGP at a meeting organised at Vadem-Curdi in Sanguem in the presence of MGP leaders Sudin Dhavalikar, Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar and MGP supporters.
In his address, Gaonkar said he would work for MGP and for Sudin Dhavalikar, as he was the right person to become chief minister. He also requested to the locals to support Dhavalikar in the upcoming assembly election.
“There was internal politics in BJP. I was neglected for all these years despite being loyal to the party, but this time I will not come under any pressure and will work to strengthen MGP in Sanguem constituency,” said Gaonkar.
Speaking at the meeting, Dhavalikar said people of Sanguem should support Gaonkar as he has worked for betterment of the Sanguem locals.
MLA Mamledar said a cool person like Vasu Meng Gaonkar was not suitable in BJP, where there are internal clashes between MLAs and Gaonkar's decision to enter MGP was right. “His entry would boost MGP's position in Sanguem,” he added.
MGP members Pratap Fadte, Narayan Sawant, Satyawan Palkar, Deepak Pauskar and other supporters were present for the meeting.
