Keep personal biases aside, project positives: Alina to tiatrists

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has called on tiatrists to keep personal biases aside while disbursing information on stage through the medium of tiatr.

She also appealed to tiatrists to project the positive so that people are aware of the good done by individuals, organisations and the government of the day.   
“If this is adhered to, people will respect our opinion much more,” she remarked, while adding that this will also enable everyone who loves tiatr to come and enjoy it.  Addressing a gathering in her capacity as the chief guest on the occasion of 125th anniversary of Tiatr celebrations at Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, on Tuesday, Alina also upheld the request put forth by the guest of honour, veteran tiatrist Premanand Sangodkar to the 125th anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee to also consider felicitating some personalities from the government and other walks of life who have rendered immense help for the cause of Tiatr.  Sangodkar named the personalities as follows: former chief minister Digambar Kamat, former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, former art & culture minister Dayanand Mandrekar, bureaucrat Prasad Lolienkar and Chairman of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee Tomazinho Cardozo.   
Speaking further, Alina termed Konkani as the mother tongue of all Goans and also our culture. “Mother tongue is the basis of our culture. To keep it alive, we have to speak Konkani and teach Konkani to our children,” she told the audience.   
Alina said Konkani stage plays a vital role to socially, environmentally and politically inform the common man.   
Reacting to the demand put forth by Sangodkar and upheld by Alina, Chairman of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee Tomazinho Cardozo assured that he would place this demand before the Committee to enable the latter decide on this matter.
