To raise the issue of Dabolim airport issue in Parliament
South Goa MP, Francisco Sardinha has decided to do his bitfor the mining affected people in the State.
On Wednesday, he announced that he would meet the PrimeMinister, Manmohan Singh and apprise him about the current scenario due to banin mining that has affected the people in the State.
A couple of days back Union Agriculture Minister and NCPchief, Sharad Pawar met a group of mining affected people in Goa and has fixedan appointment with the PM and the groupon February 18.
Addressing media persons at Congress house in Panjim,Sardinha said: “Since Goa government has submitted an affidavit before theSupreme Court seeking early resumption of iron ore mining in Goa, thegovernment should hire the services of a good council to convince the courtabout the crisis hitting the mining affected people.”
He also said that in the forthcoming Parliament session hewould raise the issue of Dabolim airport, as he did not want Mopa airport tocome up at the cost of Dabolim.
“I am for retaining of Dabolim airport and would alwaysfight for it. However, when we were told that Mopa would be added advantage toGoa we decided to support the Mopa airport too,” Sardinha said.
