The Goa region Indian Coast Guard is conducting a special training on maritime security for Goa Police at the Coast Guard district headquarters Vasco.

The first batch of 20 coastal police from different jurisdictions began their two-week training on October 16 and DIG Coast Guard Goa region Manoj Baadkar gave the inaugural speech. The seamanship training to the policemen will be imparted by Coast Guard Commander I J Singh.
Policemen belonging to various coastal police jurisdiction will be trained in batches of 20 each and the Indian Coast Guard will conduct eight such training sessions throughout the year to train about 150 more coastal police.
Speaking to the media, DIG Baadkar informed that the training was conducted at the request of State police department and the policemen would be given basic seamanship training along with practical training to use coastal police boats.
Baadkar also distributed a book ‘Baptism at Sea' as a part of the training. The book ‘Baptism at Sea' was written by DIG Baadkar as ready reference while heading the Coast Guard operation in Karnataka. "This book is written by me to provide detailed information about the operation at sea," said Baadkar.
