Meet Atharva Naik, popularly known online as @stupid_dictator, a dynamic content creator and influencer from South Goa whose creativity, consistency and unique humour have helped him carve a distinct space in the digital world. What began as a passion project has now grown into a full-fledged journey, complete with brand deals, a thriving influencer marketing agency, and a strong connection with Goan and regional audience!
Known for his quirky take on everyday life and his honest approach to content creation, Atharva balances his online presence with responsibilities in his family business, proving that passion and practicality can go hand in hand.
How it all started
My online journey began on YouTube when I was in Higher Secondary School. I used to post videos and the response was good, but I didn’t continue at that time as I got busy with other things. Still, I kept improving my skills by making videos for others — just for fun, not for money. That helped me stay updated.
About three years ago, after many friends and well-wishers encouraged me, I finally started making my own content again. Slowly, people began noticing, and brand offers followed. I always knew I’d do something in this field, and I’m happy with how far I’ve come.
The story behind the name
My mum always calls me ‘stupid’ when I annoy her, so I decided to use that in my online name. ‘Dictator’ came from my love for satire — and because I like taking charge of whatever I’m involved in. It was a quirky way to reflect that. And that’s how @stupid_dictator was born.
Learning the skills
I taught myself everything I needed. I started by exploring filming and editing, which later helped when I launched my brand. Other skills like talking on camera also came through regular practice.
Working with brands
As my audience grew, brands started approaching me for promotions. I always make sure they get full value — I’ll push my creativity as far as it can go. I don’t worry if someone mocks me — my goal is to deliver the best results possible for the brand.
Because of my reach in Goa, I’ve also worked with brands from places like Kolhapur, Sawantwadi and Dandeli. Since most of my audience is Goan, brands from outside Goa see it as a good way to connect with Goan customers. And because I create content across different categories, there are plenty of opportunities.
Challenges faced
I haven’t faced any major challenges, but this line of work is demanding. You have to be available 24/7, and there’s no room for mistakes. I spend about 5–6 hours a day on this, apart from managing my family’s real estate business — so free time is rare.
Starting an influencer
marketing agency
Once I got into content creation, many brands began asking me to connect them with other creators — especially niche ones. To make this process easier, I started my own agency. Today, I manage around 40 influencers who work across different categories. Based on what a brand needs, I link them to the right people.
I also work with a team of professionals — photographers, editors, lighting experts — who help with content creation.
Supporting upcoming creators
I think it’s great that more people are exploring this field. The more creators we have, the better the chances for collaboration and improvement. I’m always open to giving advice or guidance. Helping each other is important — otherwise, growth becomes difficult.
Advice for new creators
Focus on what you enjoy — that’s what will keep you going in the long run. This field is demanding, and there’s a lot to handle. If you’re passionate about your content, it becomes easier to stay motivated.
One thing I’ve noticed though — some young girls are getting into content creation just to get attention by dressing in revealing clothes. If that’s genuinely your personality, it is fine — but doing it just for fame can have negative effects. Instead, focus on exhibiting your real talent. That’s what brings a loyal and lasting audience.
