LUB, WTC sign MoU to fast-track Goan exports

To fast-track the exports from Goa, two leading trade organisations – Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), Goa Chapter and World Trade Centre (WTC) Goa signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the World Trade Centre in Panaji. The MoU will open a global footprint through the one solid network of the World Trade Centre Association, which has 300 plus world trade centres across 100 plus countries. Laghu Udyog Bharati is a registered all-India organisation of micro, small, and medium industries in India. It has been in existence since 1994 and has over 50,000 MSME members. It’s represented in all important committees, boards and agencies constituted by the government of India.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Goa State President of LUB, Pallavi Salgaocar stated that WTC Goa gives out many leads and MSMEs can respond to these leads by themselves or collaborate with other MSMEs, and foray into the global markets. Jayesh Raikar, vice president at LUB Goa noted that the signing of this MoU will also open up new avenues for being trained in the various nuances of international trade and beginning with the program on documentation planned for exporting units; many more such programs and workshops will be jointly organised to cover the whole gamut of international trade practices.

Mudit Agarwaal, general secretary at LUB Goa opined that putting things in action through the joint efforts of WTC and LUB MSME could establish a strong action blueprint that, going forward, will help the MSMEs of Goa enhance their Export capabilities and be a part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a 5-trillion economy.

Earlier, Cyril De Souza, assistant director, Trade Promotion, WTC Goa, noted that the WTCA Global network and the manufacturing prowess of the member units of WTC Goa and LUB could look forward to a robust mechanism that will bring immense opportunities for both the association’s stakeholders to take exports from Goa to another level.

“We are very much focused on MSMEs growing manufacturing exports with the core area of focus, take the benefit of this and more towards the export’s units, said Rahul Parab, joint secretary, LUB. Vibor Keny, treasurer, LUB highlighted that Goa can definitely benefit and start exporting more, which will lead to making Goa an exporting hub for MSMEs.
