Reckrute: Empowering Goa's workforce and driving recruitment across India

It was in March 2022 that Reckrute was established as an independent entity focussing specifically on recruitment of human resources in Goa. Prior to this new avatar, it was conceptualised as a complementary function to Bootcamp, a training institute under Nordic Intent, which runs a cluster of diversified companies across Asia, Europe and North America.

Reckrute has adopted a specialised approach to non-IT recruitment within Goa for placement in four major Indian cities. “Our vision is to become synonymous with recruitment in Goa, setting a benchmark for excellence in the industry,” asserts Sandra Mascarenhas, head of operations at Reckrute. Founded by the Goa-based Fernandes brothers, Aaron, Judah and Caleb the company offers a platform to empower Goans to find job opportunities not only within the State but across India. It specialises in recruiting talent across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, corporate sectors, marketing, accounting and finance, informs Sandra.

Post-pandemic entrant

After the pandemic, the job market experienced a gradual but significant recovery and as a new start-up, for Reckrute, this period came as a challenge and also as an opportunity. Many companies that had slowed down or halted their hiring processes started to re-engage, but the landscape also changed. Employers started looking for candidates with new skill sets, particularly in digital adaptability and crisis management. There was a rise in demand from sectors such as technology, e-commerce and logistics.

Reckrute took this as an opportunity to strengthen its connections with companies looking to expand or rebuild their teams and focused on bridging the gap between job seekers who were looking for new opportunities and businesses that needed to hire quickly to meet growing demands. Continuing to evolve as a company, it expanded its reach beyond Goa, and across India. While it is still in the growth phase as a startup, the company has seen a steady increase in placements.

Placements through

college campus

Reckrute frequently conducts placement drives on college campuses to discover new talent and inform students about various career opportunities. Through these interviews, the right candidates are selected. Generally, the screening and short listing process involves thorough evaluation of numerous applications based on minimum criteria, professional trajectory and comprehensive background checks. The more information the candidate provides the more accurate and successful the matchmaking process is.

“Once the talent is confirmed, we take care of all the necessary legalities, including drafting of a contract with the talent to ensure a seamless on boarding process. Our team also provides ongoing support to manage the talent effectively, fostering a productive and successful partnership between the employer and the employee,” explains Sandra.

Focus on India

Reckrute currently focuses on India, a country brimming with skilled professionals who are invaluable to global technology giants. Indian talent is known for its exceptional problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking and innovative approach. Indian professionals are highly adaptable, quick to embrace new technologies and stay ahead of industry trends.

“We also recognise the untapped talent pool in Goa and are committed to identifying the right individuals, equipping them with the necessary tools and preparing them to excel in their careers. In Goa, the demand for potential candidates is primarily driven by industries such as tourism and hospitality, which have been the backbone of the local economy. However, in recent years, the State has also seen a growing need for talent in the real estate and construction sectors, as well as the expanding IT and tech industries. Start-ups and digital businesses are emerging in Goa, requiring candidates skilled in software development, digital marketing and IT support roles,” explains Sandra.

Across India, the demand is more diversified. The technology sector continues to lead the way, with high demand for IT professionals, software developers and data analysts. E-commerce and logistics industries are also seeing tremendous growth as consumer behaviour shifts more towards online shopping. Healthcare, manufacturing and finance sectors are consistently seeking talent.

Future for

AI skills

Companies are also seeking professionals with skills in AI development, data science and machine learning. AI is expected to augment human capabilities rather than completely replace them, leading to the creation of new job roles and industries that cannot be fully anticipated yet. While AI does pose some risk to certain job roles, particularly those involving routine or repetitive tasks, it also creates new opportunities and enhances existing roles. The key lies in how one adapts to these changes. There will be an increasing need for skills that complement AI, such as creativity, complex problem-solving and emotional intelligence. Upskilling and reskilling will be crucial for workers to stay relevant in a changing job market. Currently, the most preferred roles include IT and software development, sales and marketing, engineering and technical positions, as well as creative and digital marketing.

Presence of

female power

There is a growing presence of women in fields traditionally dominated by men, such as technology and engineering. Women are increasingly pursuing careers in healthcare, education and management roles. While both genders are active and making significant strides in the job market, the representation can vary by industry.

The job market in Goa presents a mixed picture at the moment. On one hand, there have been reports highlighting the unemployment challenges the state is facing. Many sectors, particularly those reliant on tourism and hospitality, were significantly impacted during the pandemic, leading to job losses and an increase in unemployment. This has created a perception that it is more difficult to secure employment now than in previous years.

Government role

as job provider

On the other hand, the government has been actively working to address these issues by creating new job opportunities and promoting employment through various initiatives. There has been a focus on sectors like IT, real estate, and infrastructure development, where growth is helping to generate new jobs. The government is making efforts to boost employment in public sector roles and improve access to jobs for Goan residents.

While challenges remain, especially in certain industries, there are signs of improvement as the economy recovers. For job seekers, the market can still be competitive, but with the right skills and qualifications, especially in high-demand sectors like technology, there are opportunities to be found. The landscape is evolving and while it may be more challenging for some, others are finding new and growing fields opening up.
