In what could be termed as a significant milestone to fight against malnutrition, an Experimental Fortification Lab Centre was inaugurated at the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Belagavi. Chancellor Dr Prabhakar Kore and Dr Narendra Mohan, Former Director, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur inaugurated the centre. This Centre will serve as a hub for pioneering research and development in the fortification of food staples, aimed at improving nutritional outcomes across the country.
The event also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by KAHER and key partners in the field of food technology and fortification of food staples. The MoU is aimed at strengthening collaborative efforts for the fortification of commonly consumed food staples, such as wheat, rice, sugar and oil, with essential micronutrients, thereby tackling the rising incidence of micronutrient deficiencies in India. Dr M.S.Ganachari, Registrar of KAHERand Dr Narendra Mohan, signed the MoU in presence of Dr Prabhakar Kore and Dr Nitin M. Gangane, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Madan Godbole, Research Advisor and others.
