Deputy Collector, Margao issued a show cause cum stop work order to the owners of a property at Xeldem, Quepem for alleged hill cutting incident.
The show cause cum stop work order notice followed after the visit by the flying squad.
Earlier the incident witnessed a heated debate at the Xeldem Gram Sabha which was held on November 3 which incidentally followed the site inspection by the flying squad.
A villager Prashant Purshottam Gauns Dessai who had raised the issue of hill cutting in the village informed that permitting such incidents to any extent in the village would spell doom in the near future as the hill cutting will lead to severe devastation of natural resources including flora and fauna and ground water resources.
The show cause notice issued by the Deputy Collector has directed the land owner to appear before the Town Planner, Town and Country Planning Department within 48 hours with all the documentary evidence and permissions he has obtained from the authorities for the alleged hill cutting incident failing which a FIR will be filed against the land owner, the order states.
