Canadian Goan releases music video on Goa

A Goan based in Canada has released a music video of his song ‘Goa Again’ with the slogan on saving Goa to highlight the need to protect and preserve the State.

Neil Monteiro was born and raised in Siolim, before leaving for better prospects to Canada.

“I used to visit Goa on short holidays and every year, I found Goa getting for bad to worse when it came to its natural beauty,” said Neil, who is an entrepreneur in the print industry at Toronto.

“It was sad to see this happen and I could not stand this any more. I started following activists from Goa and learning more of what is really happening on ground. I then came up with this idea of penning down a song and in a subtle way telling people about to save Goa.”

The music video of the song ‘Goa Again’ was released on Wednesday and while the song, lyrics and composition are his own, the music was recorded and arranged by Rufus Rajan. The video for the song was done by Olwin Fernandes, while the location for the video was the Silva heritage house at Benaulim.

“‘Goa Again’ is an anthem and I want to have merchandise like T-shirts and caps printed which will be sold and distributed to every Goan and a lover of Goa, who would support this fight. All funds raised will support Bethesda children’s home in Seraulim,” said Neil.

“Since I live in Canada, I will also be approaching the Goan associations there to create this awareness.”
