Iconic Events and Entertainment (UK) Ltd launched its debut event, the vibrant ‘Carnival Spectacle’ in Milton Keynes on March 1, bringing the excitement and energy of the Goan Carnival to the heart of the Milton Keynes, England.
The ‘Carnival Spectacle’ attracted Goans from Milton Keynes, Slough, Swindon, Staffordshire, Dunstable, Northampton, Thrapston, Nottingham, Coventry, and different parts of London, making it an inclusive celebration of culture, music, and community.
Guests were treated to an electrifying mix of music, featuring the dynamic RE-SYNC (a one-man band and DJ, alongside Reman Fernandes & Synclair Varella) and DJ Franky Fernandes, with the lively MC Simon Varella hosting the event. Guests enjoyed an array of delicious snacks and a scrumptious Goan buffet, catered by Mc Clesscia and Candida of Iconic Caterers.
The highlight of the evening was the King Momo Parade along with his entourage which marked the official start of the festivities. Rosch Goes from Milton Keynes took on the role of King Momo and declared the carnival open by reading the ceremonial decree. The parade, accompanied by dancers and the grandeur of King Momo’s entourage, was one of many memorable highlights of the night.
A carnival flash mob choreographed by Sydelle Varella, featuring talented youngsters from Milton Keynes and other parts of the UK was another highlight of the event.
The evening was filled with excitement, including special prizes for the best carnival costumes (male & female), a raffle, bingo, and surprise giveaways throughout the night.
The event was supported by SBI (UK) Ltd and Gurbinder Saggu of SBI (UK) Ltd was felicitated at the event. Flavio Gracias, Chair of trustee of the Goan Welfare Society and recipient of the British Empire Medal, was a special invitee for the event.
Gracias sought the support of all Goans present at the event to contribute generously to the Goan Welfare Society, ensuring the continuation of its vital community work. Othelia Fernandes, Chairperson of the Milton Keynes Goan Community, along with the core team members, were also felicitated.
The event was organised by seasoned entertainment professionals Reman Fernandes (musician) and Simon Varella (MC), both with deep ties to the Goan community.
“This event was designed to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Goan Carnival in Milton Keynes. Bringing the soul of the Goan Carnival to Milton Keynes felt incredibly important to us," said Simon.
Added Reman: “We wanted to create a space where the local community could connect with our traditions and celebrate them together. It’s not just about music and fun, it's about keeping our culture alive and passing it down to the next generation.”
