G.O.A. hosts events for Goans in Greater Toronto Area

The Goan Overseas Association (G.O.A) is hosting a series of events for the Goan community in the Greater Toronto Area this month.

NETWORKING SOCIAL MIXER

The GOA Toronto presented the GOA Professionals and Entrepreneurs Social Mixer (networking event) at the Goan Community Centre in Brampton on February 2 at 7 pm.

Glem Dias, a leadership Strategy consultant who has his firm 'Glem Dias & Associates', provided insights on what organisations are looking for when hiring, how to be a valuable asset to an organisation and tops to ace an interview.

Hammad Siddiqui is a certified mentor and coach who provided insights into the mysterious hidden opportunities available for professionals and businesses on LinkedIn.

Darrell Pinto, an executive with immense global experience and also a speaker on various topics on new immigrants, refugees and inclusiveness and diversity facilitated the event.

"GOA Toronto invites people to join our new professional and entrepreneurs networking group comprising professionals and entrepreneurs (including new immigrants) from all industries to expand their network. An opportunity to also meet with senior executives for career tips and advice," said GOA Toronto President Selwyn Collaco.

KONKANI FILM SCREENING

The GOA Toronto presented the Member's Night with the screening of the acclaimed Konkani movie 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' on the big screen at the Goan Community Centre in Brampton on February 3 at 7.30 pm.

GOA members were given free entry (no dinner), while a nominal fee of $15 was charged for members for dinner. Snacks were available for purchase and there was a cash bar. Registration was mandatory for all those attending the movie.

CARNIVAL XTRAVAGANZA

The GOA Toronto will host its 'Friday Nite' with the 'Red & Black Carnival 2023 Xtravaganza' at the Goan Community Centre in Brampton on February 10 from 7.30 pm onwards.

Music will be provided by 'Goa Amigos' The dress code is Red and Black.

'EAT WELL FOR LIFE'

The GOA Toronto will host the Silver Linings with a presentation on 'Eat Well for Life' by Christina DuPont, a registered dietician, via a Zoom meet on February 17 from 2 pm to 3 pm.

Christina DuPont will speak on nutrition considerations (challenges and adapting to change), nutrients of importance, healthy habits and general healthy eating (examples of balanced meals).

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

The GOA Toronto will present the Family Game Night at the Goan Community Centre in Brampton on February 17 from 7.30 pm onwards.

Entry is free for GOA members and children (17 years and below). Non-members will be charged $10 as an entry fee. Dinner and snacks will be provided at additional charges.
