VANCOUVER

The field was alive with energy and enthusiasm as nine teams took part in the ‘7-A-Side Soccer Tournament’ hosted by The GOA Vancouver at Newton Surrey in Vancouver.

The main objective of the event was to encourage the global community to come together and meet in a friendly environment to compete and participate in Goa’s favourite sport.

The games were officiated by FIFA referees ensuring fair play and sportsmanship. Each team received a complimentary refreshment box from GOA Vancouver, which was greatly appreciated by all participants.

In the first semi-finals, Moira FC advanced to the finals after a penalty shootout against Navelim Sastikars, while in the second semi-finals, Anjuna FC defeated Carmulim Royals.

The finals featured a thrilling match between Moira FC and Anjuna FC. The final was a 20-min each half. Both teams played a great game, with Anjuna FC finally winning the GOA's 7-A-Side Tournament.

AWARDS

Besides the Winner and Runner-Up, GOA Vancouver recognised the Most Valuable Player (Female/Male) and the Best Goalkeeper with careful consideration from the judges, Louis D'Mello and Nigel D'Souza.

The MVP (Female) was awarded to Morgan Ter Stege (Navelin Sastikars), while the MVP (Male) was awarded to Daniel Steven Pinto (Anjuna FC). The Best Goalkeeper (sponsored by Ashok Appadurai) was awarded to Harsh Sampat (Porvorim Stars).

“We are grateful for the dedication and effort shown by all our team participants. While there can only be one winner, every team brought immense value to the tournament with their skills and determination,” said GOA Vancouver President John Braganza.

“There was a lot of competitive spirit and cheer all around Newton Athletic Park. It was very inspiring to see supporters cheering on their teams with such enthusiasm. The weather held up well for us. Throughout the day, there was a lot of camaraderie among teams and supporters of teams bonded well with each other. There was great music to fill the air too.”
