MUMBAI

The Susegad Goans of Borivli-Mumbai hosted a lively and vibrant celebration of Carnival at the Lounge Party Hall at Dahisar West, Mumbai, on February 23, an event that beautifully encapsulated the spirit of Goan culture, tradition, and community.

Susegad Goans is a group of friends who are passionate about Goa and endeavour to keep alive the Goan culture outside of Goa and leave behind a legacy specially for the younger generations who have very little knowledge about Goa and its rich culture and tradition.

Susegad Goans is not an association or a registered body but just a group of energetic people who believe in Living Life the Goan way. Known for their joyful way of life, this group gathered to celebrate Carnival in true Goan style, filled with fun, laughter, music and dance, inviting non-Goans as well to be part of this celebration because Susegad Goans believe in inclusivity.

From the vibrant costumes to the beats of traditional music, the energy was electric and the spirit of Goa was truly alive in every moment. At the Lounge Party Hall, participants were transported to a festive atmosphere that blended modern entertainment with traditional Goan customs.

The event began with welcoming King Momo (Clyde Rodricks) and Queen Mimi (Amanda Verdes Lobo) in typical style accompanied by Carnival Music. After the opening prayer, King Momo declared the Carnival 2025 open.

People marched to the beat of Goan music that got everyone in the festive mood. This was followed by participants dressed in vibrant traditional attire, who twirled to the beat of the lively and infectious rhythms of DJ music. Goan songs filled the air, with everyone encouraged to join in and celebrate the rich musical heritage of Goa.

The fun didn’t stop there. Interactive games and a Carnival quiz further amplified the energy, testing everyone’s knowledge of Goan culture, history, and, of course, the Carnival traditions. Participants eagerly engaged in these activities, sharing their love for Goa and forging stronger bonds within the community.

One of the highlights of the event was the traditional Dekhni Folk dance performed by members of the Susegad Goans, which was followed by delicious food catered for, by Olive Caterers. Guests indulged in the mouth-watering dishes and enjoying the camaraderie that comes from sharing a meal.

The entire celebration was a testament to the community’s togetherness. It was a beautiful fusion of joy, togetherness and the very essence of Goan traditions.

The Susegad Goans, known for their relaxed, joyful lifestyle, embraced the Carnival festivities with open arms and hearts. The event was a true reflection of Goa’s relaxed and welcoming spirit, offering a chance for attendees to reconnect with their roots while enjoying the vibrant energy of the occasion.

As the day drew to a close, guests left with smiles on their faces and fond memories of a day well spent in the company of friends and family. The Carnival 2025 celebration will undoubtedly be remembered as an unforgettable experience—a celebration of culture, tradition and the unbreakable bonds of community.

The Susegad Goans have thanked everyone who participated and helped make this year’s Carnival celebration a huge success.
