Goan spearheads Knights of Columbus event in Canada

VANCOUVER

A Goan who is the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus (KofC) in Richmond-Canada spearheaded a Valentine's Charity Gala hosted by the KofC at the Riverside Palace Hotel in Richmond BC on February 14. 

The KofC (Council 10681), which is presently headed by Grand Knight, Clifford Faleiro, who traces his roots to Navelim, serves St Joseph the Worker Parish and sponsors a variety of church and community services throughout Richmond. The KofC is also conducts a number of activities for the Goan community in and around Richmond.

The event was not only a celebration of love and community spirit but also a meaningful effort to raise funds for the Knights of Columbus Charities.

In his address, the Event Chair and Grand Knight Clifford Faleiro emphasised the importance of giving back with care and compassion. 

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, acknowledging their generosity – whether through financial contributions or simply by their presence, demonstrating unwavering support for the cause.

The event brought together members of the community, generous sponsors, and distinguished guests who all contributed to the noble cause. 

The gala was filled with vibrant energy, featuring lively music, laughter, and an atmosphere of camaraderie. Guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment and togetherness, reinforcing the strong bonds within the community. 

Faleiro also extended a special thanks to the generous donors who sponsored enticing prizes, including luxurious hotel stays and coveted hockey tickets.

This event was a testament to the power of unity and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended. 

Through the collective efforts of all who participated, the Valentine's Charity Gala not only raised essential funds but also strengthened the spirit of kindness and giving. 

The Knights of Columbus continue to be a beacon of hope, inspiring individuals to make a difference in the lives of those in need. 

Born in Mumbai-India, Clifford Faleiro is presently the Director of Operations (North America) at Saga Welco AS in Vancouver BC for almost 26 years. He loves sports and is an avid hockey and cricket fan. 

He has been very involved with Charity events and mainly those connected with the Knights of Columbus of BC. 

A number of Goans are involved in the KofC and they include G.O.A. Vancouver President John Braganza (KofC Outside Guard), Alan Rego (KofC Financial Secretary), Ivor Moraes (KofC Treasurer), Charles Pinto, Reynold Lobo, Darryl Fernandes, Bryan Rego, Joe Thomas, Ben Rego, Russel D’Souza, Xavier Rebello, Stefan Dias and Neville Noronha.

The KofC in Richmond BC are involved in a number of charities, which include Coats for Kids, Corpus Fund, Ultrasound machines, Pennies from Heaven, Canadian Wheelchair foundation, Youth fund, Seminarians, Food Banks, Canadian Diabetes foundation, Covenant House and Coast Mental Health.
