LONDON
In true spirit of unity and harmony, Goan Hindus, Muslims and Christians celebrated the Feast of their Goencho Saib with a Mass at Heathrow Airport in London on December 3.
The United Friends Heathrow UK celebrated the feast of St Francis Xavier with traditional fervour in the St George Chapel near Terminal 2 at Heathrow airport, with a Mass celebrated by Fr Jude Kurumeh. The Feast Mass was attended by Goans working at Heathrow Airport Terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
On the occasion, Lead Chaplain of Multi Faith Heathrow Ruth Bottom also attended the Mass and wished the Goan community working at Heathrow Airport and in UK a Happy Feast of St Francis Xavier.
She also commended Goans present as being one of the biggest communities providing services at Heathrow Airport. She went a step further in assuring United Friends Heathrow UK President Leister Martins that next year, the Goans could celebrate the Mass in Konkani.
Fr Jude praised the Goans for their unity in diversity as all Goans cutting across religions attended the Mass.
Many citizens from other countries also attended the Mass, while a number of people volunteered their services as ushers, health and safety representatives, etc.
Jude da Costa, Richard Coutinho, Deepak Naik, Taufic Bepari and Herteberto de Melo managed the arrangements at the event.
A picture of St Francis Xavier was given to all those attending the Feast Mass. After Mass, there was a meet and greet get-together where food and snacks along with chocolates were distributed to the people.
