Goans in Vancouver were treated to music, dance, games and Goan food at the annual get-together organised by the Goan Overseas Association (GOA) Vancouver in Hawthorne Rotary Park, Surrey, BC, on July 22.

The community came together in large numbers to celebrate togetherness and friendship. Laughter and chatter filled the air as children played games, adults engaged in friendly competitions (telegames, volleyball, tug-of-war) and most importantly, new connections were forged.
A special Kids Corner was set up by Villa Pinto, Palmira Braganza and Romita Fernandes. Kids had a blast with water balloons and enjoyed activities organised for them. They were treated to a complimentary hot dog, a goody bag and a popcorn packet.
Steadwick D'Penha coordinated the Entertainment Corner, while the singers and musicians serenaded with melodious tunes and kept the crowd entertained. Doug Nazareth and Joe Pinto were the Emcees for the event.
Crystal and Savio Menezes organised the Tele-Games, which were appreciated by the participants. Andrew Nazareth organised a Volley Ball match, while Shona Lobo and Bina D'Souza conducted a Bingo round.
Food Vendor Tickets were coordinated by Crystal-Ann Lobo, Stacy Fernandes, Nazarine Fernandes and Palmira Braganza, while Caroline D'Sa and Anne Da Silva took care of the Membership Table. Doris Amaral and Rita D'Souza took charge of the afternoon tea.
G.O.A Vancouver Vice-President Darryl Fernandes was praised for coming in early for the setup, assisting with the food vendor tickets, personally taking the members to the vendors to ensure they get the right order, helping out with the games and overall ensuring everybody was comfortable and having a good time.
G.O.A Vancouver President John Braganza worked tirelessly to keep the Goan community together in Vancouver.
“I thank the Core and Executive teams for their tireless efforts, hard work, time and commitment to make this get-together a success. It required a tremendous amount of time and energy to put together all the fun and frolic. Everyone enjoyed this annual event,” acknowledged Braganza.
