Goans in Qatar celebrated the feast of patron saint of Goa St Francis Xavier by hosting a 6-a-side Married vs Bachelor's tournament.
Goans playing under the banner of Argentina Bachelor's won the tournament defeating France Married. Four teams took part in the tournament which was played on a league basis: France Married, Brazil married, Argentina Bachelor's and Spain Bachelor's.
The final had to be decided on a toss and Argentina captain Carlton Fernandez grabbed the winner’s trophy and medals and left the Runners up trophy and medals for France captain Franky Viegas.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and his wife and Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo graced the occasion and gave away the winner’s and runners-up trophy and medals.
The entire tournament was sponsored by Mario Fernandes and was organised by Johnny Fernandes, John Fernandes, Jose (Mossa) and Collin Fernandes.
Organisers thanked all the Goan guest families who are here in Qatar for the World Cup and came to support the France guest team.
