LONDON
Goans from North London are gearing up to celebrate their annual St Francis Xavier’s Feast in Wood Green, London on December 8.
The North London Goans Organisation will be celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the Feast and look forward to support from all Goans and others based in North London and elsewhere.
Several presidents and committee members along with their families have had the privilege to be part of this celebration under the North London Goans Organisation and North London Goans want to keep this tradition going and to continue celebrating the feast year after year.
The Feast Mass will be celebrated by Fr Renato Andrade, sfx who has recently arrived in the UK as part of the Goan Chaplaincy.
While music will be provided by the band called ‘Legacy’, food will be catered by ‘Suntop’, caterers from Goa. Raffles, a licenced bar and other entertainment will be in store throughout the day,
“We ask every Goan in the UK to come and join us in the celebration and help us keep the Feast of the Patron of Goa, St Francis Xavier, going for many years to come. It will be a day out to meet old friends and family, and make new friends having common interest and beliefs,” said Bella Fernandes, from the organising committee.
This year, the North London Goans are putting extra effort to make the celebration a successful event, despite the fact that many Goans are travelling to Goa for the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier.
“The working committee has kept the prices so low that a 3-course meal is for a mere £12 per person and £10 for children under 12 years old,” said Bella.
“There is a lot of work and preparation involved in getting the celebration organised, but our working committee has worked hard despite their full-time jobs and family commitment. It is not surprising to see even our senior citizens want to help with this Feast as the devotion to St Francis Xavier is very strong despite living far away from Goa.”
