The community centres of the Goan Overseas Association (G.O.A.) of Toronto and the Canorient Christian Association of Toronto were recently blessed by Cardinal Joseph Coutts of Pakistan and Archbishop Benny Travas of Karachi.

The prelates from Pakistan were on a private visit to Canada. While Cardinal Coutts presided and attended a family wedding, Archbishop Travas came to see his mother here.

It was a unique occasion for both to be present in Toronto at the same time and a providential opportunity for the two community centres to be blessed for the first time.

While the G.O.A. community centre was opened in 2021, the Canorient premises were opened in 1984. Incidentally, when the Canorient centre opened in 1984, the president of the club was Archie Martis, an uncle of Archbishop Travas.

Several members of both clubs were present at the two community centres to warmly welcome the Cardinal Coutts on April 14 and the Archbishop Travas on April 23 at their respective premises, respectively.
