LONDON
The Youth Goan Association (YGA) UK recently organised a theatre acting workshop at the St Anselm’s Catholic Church hall in collaboration with Teotonio D'Costa, who presents a programme with Prudent Media in Goa.
As many as 30 young and talented Goans were able to hone their acting skills and boost their confidence on stage. With the support of 10 dedicated adult leaders, this workshop became a platform for growth and learning, nurturing a new generation of passionate actors.
“The theatre acting workshop was a success, attracting a diverse group of young people eager to explore the world of acting. From enthusiastic beginners to those with prior experience, the workshop catered to individuals of all skill levels,” said YGA UK President Mark Silva.
“The participants showcased their passion and commitment throughout the sessions, actively engaging in various activities and exercises that encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and embrace the art of theatre.”
“One of the most significant achievements of the workshop was its impact on the confidence levels of participants. As they delved into the intricacies of acting, guided by Teotonio D'Costa's expertise, the young actors blossomed, shedding their inhibitions and embracing their creativity.”
“Through a series of practical exercises, improvisation games, and character-building techniques, they gained a deeper understanding of the craft and acquired valuable skills in voice modulation, body language, and stage presence.”
“Through this transformative experience, 30 young individuals discovered their hidden talents, gained confidence, and developed essential skills in theatre acting,” Silva added.
He said the provision of a suitable hall for the workshop by Fr Jovito D'Souza created a conducive environment for learning and growth.
Silva acknowledged that the success of the theatre acting workshop would not have been possible without the unwavering support of several individuals.
“The YGA UK extends its gratitude to Teotonio D'Costa for his guidance and facilitation throughout the workshop. His passion and dedication to the art of acting inspired the participants to push their boundaries and strive for excellence,” said Silva.
“The association would also like to express appreciation to Fr Jovito D'Souza, Bunty Vaz, Simon Gonsalves, Nolasaco Abreu, Roque Vaz (External Adviser), Awaaz Radio 99.8FM (Media Partner) and committee members for their constant encouragement and support.”
“Additionally, the hard work and commitment of Palma Colaco, Mark Monteiro, Greta Fernandes, Bernice Fernandes, Oligson Fernandes, Seby Colaco and all committee members deserve special mention, as their efforts contributed to the seamless execution of the workshop.”
Silva said the success of the workshop serves as a testament to the power of collaboration, dedication, and the nurturing of young talent.
“The YGA UK will be be a driving force in providing opportunities for personal and artistic growth, paving the way for a vibrant future in the world of theatre,” he said.
Silva informed that the YGA UK has other workshops planned for the coming months.
“We invite the youth to lookout for these upcoming events, as they promise to be equally enriching and empowering for young talents.”
“In order to stay informed and connected with us, we encourage the youth to become a free member of the YGA UK. By joining our community, they will receive regular updates, exclusive information, and early access to workshop registrations. It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of a vibrant network of aspiring artists and like-minded individuals,” Silva added.
