A Goan bodybuilder hailing from Aquem-Margao has won three medals at the Big Man Barbarian Cup in London on October 8.
Shaine Almeida, who resides in Swindon, won the first place in the Men's Physique-Masters (35+ age category), the third place in the Men's Physique (beginner’s category) and the third place in the Men's Physique (Novice A category).
Earlier on July 4, 2021, he had also participated in the Men’s Physique First Timer and had secured the fourth place.
When contacted, Almeida said he began working out in the gym at the age of 18 and soon, bodybuilding became his passion.
“I used to work as a gym trainer in Goa and transformed many of them with their bodies and weight loss,” said Almeida.
To a query on his training schedule, Almeida replied: “I train on my full body and maintain my body with diet. I never miss my time at the gym.”
Almeida said his next target is to continue what he does best.
“I would like to open a gym in Goa and train our youth to participate in competitions, besides encouraging them to reach their goals.”
Asked to impart his message to the Goan youth interested in bodybuilding, Almeida replied: “Right now, you might be hitting the gym pretty hard, getting yourself into the best shape of your life. Of course, it won’t always be that way, so just realise that fitness should be a part of your life for decades to come. So, focus and stay dedicated.”
