MARGAO: Vasco Veterans secured a 6-5 victory over Seraulim Veterans in a thrilling penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals of the 4th Rosary Parish 8-a-side Veterans Football Cup at Laymati Football Ground, Davorlim, on Saturday.
Seraulim Veterans took control early, with Stevon and Sandip scoring quick goals in the 15th and 20th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
However, Vasco Veterans came out strong in the second half, leveling the score with goals from Jhon Fernandes and Uday Naik in the 35th and 40th minutes, respectively. This set the stage for a tense penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Vasco converted all four of their penalties, with Uday Naik, Abu Shaik, Nelson, and August finding the back of the net. Seraulim responded with goals from Kennedy, Stevon, and Sandip, but it wasn't enough as Vasco emerged 6-5 victors.
