CANACONA
A cashew plantation was gutted in a fire near the Karmalghat at Dumane-Agonda on Saturday afternoon. According to sources, some motorists noticed smoke billowing near the Dumane bridge and a short while later, flames engulfed the cashew plantation. The fire began to spread towards other plantations. A fire brigade went to the site and firefighters struggled to control the fire till late evening.
