CJI releases coffee table book on International Purple Fest

PANAJI

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud highlighted the need for meaningful discussions on disability and accessibility in India as he launched a Coffee Table Book for the International Purple Fest 2024 on Monday.

“I don’t want future generations of people with disabilities to live in an India that excludes them. Disability and accessibility are complex social issues, and the answers lie in open dialogue,” he said at the India Accessibility Summit and State Disability Commissioners’ Conclave 2024 in Bengaluru, where the book was unveiled. The State will host another edition of Purple Fest, following events in 2023 and 2024.

State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Guruprasad Pawaskar said, “The Coffee Table Book is not just a collection of memories but a record of our journey towards a more inclusive and accessible society. We must keep advocating and implementing policies that uphold the rights and dignity of everyone.”
