MARGAO: Guirdolim Club secured a spot in the final with a 2-0 victory over Arlem Youth Association in the first semifinal at Mandopa Ground on Monday.
Arlem Youth had an early chance in the 5th minute when Sweden Barbosa found himself in the box with just the goalkeeper to beat, but he shot wide. Moments later, Guirdolim launched a counterattack, and Viton Fernandes was fouled by Arlem's goalkeeper inside the box. Referee Milagris Noronha awarded a penalty, which Akram Yadwad converted to give Guirdolim a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Arlem Youth had several opportunities to equalize, with Danny Fernandes, Garrison Fernandes, and Achilles Fernandes all failing to score in the 30th, 44th, and 50th minutes. Guirdolim doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Viton Fernandes scored.
Viton Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, with the award presented by General Secretary Claudio Dias.
