One of the largest comunidades in South Goa, the comunidade of Verna, held its Managing Committee elections in a very democratic manner on January 19 for the triennium 2025-2028. Shareholders and components turned out in large numbers and gave a clear mandate to a new Managing Committee. Speaking to the media after the elections, the President of the winning panel, Joseph Da Guia Fernandes, said that two panels contested the elections this time. The panel led by Joseph Da Guia Fernandes swept all six positions, defeating the rival panel. The election proceedings were conducted under the supervision of the presiding officer, Sanket Dessai, and Escrivão Shivdas Borkar. Joseph Da Guia Fernandes has been elected as President, Celestino AB Noronha as Attorney, and Caetano Luis Peres as Treasurer. The substitute positions will be held by Antonio Juvenal Do Rosario Rego as President, Alberto Antonio Das Dores Mascarenhas as Attorney, and Ignatius Lawrence Rodrigues as Treasurer.
