Veteran journalist and former president of the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), Prakash Kamat, will feature in Goa Union of Journalists’ monthly series, ‘Behind the Byline’ on April 25. Kamat will be in conversation with Pradnya Gaonkar Rane (composing editor – Doordarshan and GUJ executive committee member) at the GUJ hall, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto at 4 pm. Kamat started his career in journalism with the Konkani newspaper Sunaparant in 1987 and moved on to The Navhind Times, where he worked as a senior reporter for three years. He joined The Economic Times as its state correspondent in 1990. He rose to the position of principal correspondent, working for the publication for 15 fruitful years. In 2006, he joined The Hindu as a special correspondent in Goa and retired in 2019 as Senior assistant editor with 14 years of service.
