PANAJI: On Sunday, August 18, the third Eco Consciousness workshop, ‘Nurture Nature’, took place at Xavier Retreat House in Baga. The event, which attracted 75 participants, focused on DIY eco-friendly practices and the care of potted plants during monsoons. The workshop featured a tree plantation drive and hands-on sessions led by Nestor Rangel, an engineer turned agriculturist, who educated attendees on potting techniques.
Fr Shannon Pereira SJ, Director of Xavier Retreat House, emphasised the importance of environmental awareness. The sunny weather complemented the workshop, as participants planted trees and enjoyed a fellowship lunch and Eucharist. Forest department representatives, including Mariana E D’Souza and Baburao Shetkar, supported the event and highlighted the community’s role in eco-consciousness. Cedric da Costa from My Green Ambition urged youth to lead environmental efforts. The workshop also included a stall for exchanging seeds and homemade Goan products.
