SANGUEM:
A local news channel person and his driver were assaulted by a group of persons at Rivona on Friday night.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 8 pm, when Amit Naik was travelling back home from Margao in a car driven by Chetan Netravalkar.
A group of masked assailants attacked Naik and Netravalkar, while also damaging the car.
The assailants tried to pull Naik from the car, but Naik and Netravalkar managed to escape from the clutches of the assailants.
Both Naik and Netravalkar were injured in the assault and are undergoing medical treatment.
Amit's wife, Rakhi Naik, who is a panchayat member of Netravali Panchayat, has claimed the sole reason for attacks on her husband could be because he has been exposing corruption in the panchayat.
Investigations are in progress under the supervision of Quepem Police Inspector Arjun Sangodkar and guidance of DySP Nilesh Rane.
