PONDA:
A 40-year-old man has been arrested by Ponda police on charges of kidnapping a girl on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the girl’s father lodged a complaint at the Ponda police station on Wednesday afternoon stating that his minor daughter had been abducted.
Police registered a case and alerted police stations across the State.
The accused Sitaram Gaonkar was caught in Sanguem area on Wednesday night while he was allegedly trying to flee the State along with the girl and proceed to Karnataka.
The suspect was arrested in this connection and was sent for a medical check-up. Ponda PSI Krishna Gawas is investigating the case under the supervision of Police Inspector Vijayanath Kavlekar.
