CANACONA
A 40-year-old man, Jaya Varak, succumbed to serious head injuries on Saturday, after being caught in the crossfire of two fighting bulls in Shristhal on the eve of New Year.
Varak, riding his motorbike, stopped to avoid colliding with the bulls, which were aggressively fighting in the middle of the road. However, the bulls charged from all directions, knocking him and his motorbike to the ground.
Varak suffered severe head injuries and was initially treated at CHC Canacona before being transferred to SGDH Margao and later to GMC Bambolim for advanced treatment. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away on Saturday afternoon.
Canacona police confirmed no foul play was suspected and registered a case. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as “head injury consequent to blunt force impact.”
Investigations are ongoing under PSI Rajashekar Reddy of Canacona Police Station.
