ONGC-IPSHEM, Goa conducted a training cum mock exercise regarding Earthquake Risk Reduction on Thursday at IPSHEM, ONGC, Betul in collaboration with National Institute of Disaster Management-NIDM New Delhi, National Disaster Response Force 5th Bn. Pune and Goa State Disaster Management Authority.
The Training cum Mock Exercise was attended by 25 participants from various stakeholding departments/organisations including National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India; National Disaster Response Force 5th Bn. Pune, Goa State Disaster Management Authority, District Disaster Management Authorities North and South, Institute of Petroleum Safety, Health and Environment Management-IPSHEM, ONGC, Directorate of Health Services, Goa Police, and Directorate of Fire Services.
The main aim of conducting such exercise was to enhance the level of disaster preparedness and identify the gaps especially earthquake disaster at IFSHEM in coordination with all the concerned stakeholders.
The exercise was also aimed to take forward the PM’s 10-Point Agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction especially the Point 1 which states all development sectors must imbibe the principles of Disaster Risk Management and Point 8 which states build on local capacity and initiative to enhance disaster risk reduction.
