A monkey was critically injured after a Toyota Innova struck the animal at Sancoale on Wednesday evening.
According to locals, the monkey jumped off a coconut tree and onto the road where it was struck by the oncoming Innova. The monkey suffered several injuries and a gash on the cheek. It struggled to move and locals immediately alerted the Forest Department.
Incidentally, a pig was killed at the same spot in the morning with a large patch of dried-up blood on the road to show for it. The Sancoale route witnesses frequent accidents due to rash driving and vehicles failing to maintain the speed limit.
