In a groundbreaking event, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar flagged off the inaugural Goa Midnight Marathon at Sada on the occasion of Republic Day, setting a vibrant tone for the state’s sporting and cultural calendar. Held on the scenic flyover overlooking the Arabian Sea, the event showcased Goa's growing infrastructure, which has transformed the region into a hub for unique and large-scale events. Addressing the gathering, Amonkar emphasized the significant role of improved roadways and the newly inaugurated port connectivity Railway Over Bridge in hosting events of this magnitude. The midnight race attracted around 500 athletes across various distance categories. The illuminated flyover, with its stunning sea views, offered a picturesque backdrop, adding to the excitement of the event.
Athletes competed in several categories based on distances, utilizing the newly developed infrastructure, including the railway over bridge that connects to the port.
