Van Mahotsav programme organised by the Forest Department at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School in Cortalim on Friday was attended by Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha along with Fr Dr Simao Remedios, Parish Priest of St Philip & St James Church, Cortalim and the Manager of the School, Noreen Dias, Headmistress of the school.
Dr Allan Abreu, Incharge, Fr Bolmax Pereira, Professor, Senia Pereira, Sarpanch, Cortalim VP and Agustin Menezes, Panch of the village, teachers of the various departments of the educational hub along with representatives of the Forest Department Vishal Surve, SDFO, Minguel Fernandes, ACF, Vikram Aditya Gaonkar, RFO, Siddhesh Gaude, RFO and Prakash Naik, RFO and Dikshak Naik of the Forest Department, Margao office were also present. Speaking on the occasion Saldanha said that trees are very important in our lives. While thanking the Forest Department and the officers present for organising the tree plantation programme, Saldanha said that trees planted today will not only give us clean and fresh air but will also add to the beauty of our environment.On the occasion, the Forest Department distributed tree saplings and T-shirts to the people as awareness and to promote tree plantation.
