PANAJI: The Office of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Ponda Taluka, celebrated World Consumer Rights Day at Balkalyan Ashram, Talaulim, focusing on the theme “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.” Dr. Gaurav Gopal Naik, Assistant Director, highlighted the role of consumers in sustainability and explained key consumer rights. He stressed the importance of consumer education in preventing fraud. Dignitaries included Sub-Inspector Deepak Naik, committee member Mrunal Samant, and Ashram In-charge Balakrishna Shelke.
A poster painting competition on sustainability was held for the inmates. Laxman B.K. of Shri Sharda High School won first place, followed by Dikshay Matondkar and Abhishek Naik of Shri Mahalaxmi English High School. Mrunal Samant appreciated the initiative, underscoring the need for consumer rights awareness. The event successfully promoted sustainability and responsible consumer behaviour, concluding with a vote of thanks by Balakrishna Shelke.
