PANAJI: Dr Anthony Menezes Mesquita, former Professor and Head of the Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases Department of Goa Medical College, was felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1st RESPICON GOA 2024 (1st State Conference on Respiratory Medicine) held on Sunday, 20th October 2024, at the GMC Library Auditorium, Bambolim. The conference was organised by the Association of Chest Physicians of Goa in collaboration with the Department of Respiratory Medicine, GMC.
Dr Mesquita joined the department in 1980 as a teacher and retired in 2015 as the Professor and Head. He served as the Professor and Head of this department for 15 years and was also Acting Dean of GMC. He occupied many posts in academic bodies and had numerous publications and presentations, guiding many postgraduate students. He was felicitated as a teacher, mentor, and physician par excellence. The Organising Secretary was Dr Akash Deep Arora, secretary of the association, and Dr Lamartino Da Costa read the citation.
