MARGAO: Fr. Agnel Paroda got the better of Maina SC Curtorim in a thrilling quarter-final encounter 6-4 via tie-breaker in the 33rd Super Soccer Tournament.

Paroda struck first in the 13th minute through Selton Fernandes, who capitalised on a brilliant pass from Kanchan Kiro. However, their joy was short-lived as Milagres Fernandes responded with a powerful volley just two minutes later for Curtorim.

The intensity rose further as Joywin Carneiro put Curtorim ahead in the 28th minute. Just before halftime, Likson Rebello's timely goal for Paroda restored balance, sending the teams into the break level at 2-2.

The second half saw a more cautious approach from both sides, with neither team willing to risk conceding. With the deadlock unbroken, the tie was settled through a penalty shootout. Fr. Agnel Paroda displayed greater precision from the spot, converting all six attempts to secure a hard-fought 6-4 victory and a place in the semi-finals.

Velroy Carvalho of Paroda was awarded the Man of the Match trophy by Roque Carneiro, a former Salgaocar and Indian national player.
