Goan students shine at International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad

PANAJI: Tanay Prabhu and Pralhad Kavlekar from Goa have made their mark on the global stage by securing Gold Certificates in the 4th International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad 2024. Organised by the UK-based Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics, the prestigious competition was held on November 30 and witnessed participation from over 10,000 students representing 10 countries, including the USA and the UK.

Representing the SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi, Tanay Prabhu, a Year 11 Science student from GVM’s Higher Secondary School, Farmagudi, won in the Senior Category, while Year 10 student Pralhad Kavlekar from Almeida High School, Ponda, triumphed in the Intermediate Category. The academy fielded 43 students, achieving remarkable success. Alongside the two Gold Certificates, students also won five Silver Certificates, ten Bronze Certificates, and sixteen Merit Certificates.

Founder of the academy, Sagar Sakordekar, congratulated the winners, emphasising their achievements on the international platform and encouraging participation in future events. Certificates will be distributed to schools, and Gold Certificate winners will be honoured during the academy’s Annual Prize Distribution in March 2025. This impressive performance highlights the growing popularity and skill in Vedic Mathematics among Goan students.
