Spanish forward Juan Mera has parted ways with Churchill Brothers FC for the remaining matches of the I-League.
Mera is regarded as one of the top foreign players in Indian football. The relationship between Mera and the Churchill Brothers management had reportedly become strained, although neither party publicly acknowledged this. However, it was noted that "nothing is static" in Goan football, suggesting that changes at the club's helm could be anticipated.
When asked about Mera’s departure, Churchill Brothers general manager Aditya Barros stated that Mera didn’t quite fit into their philosophy and, given his talent, was too valuable to remain on the bench. He added that it was best for both parties to part ways amicably.
