PANAJI: Panaji echoed with global hits reimagined in Konkani during the Grand Finale of a unique Konkani Solo Singing Competition on 22 February 2025. Forty-two contestants from diverse Goan communities performed 44 Konkani renditions across multiple dialects.
Rishona Gomes from Nuvem won first place with Kalliz Suskartolem Morosor, based on Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. Anggie Alfonso from Arambol secured second place with Yo Go Gopaan, inspired by Nadaaniyan. Brian Dsouza from Nerul came third with Kuttureo… Korum-ia Mog, adapted from Allegro Ventigo.
The event, featuring participants aged 5 to 75, also included a non-competitive category for children under 10. Judged by renowned musicians, the competition recognised lyricists who crafted original Konkani songs inspired by global tracks, marking a key step in promoting Konkani music on the global stage.
