Aiming to empower the persons with disabilities and providing them opportunities for sustainable livelihood, the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera, Bhagwati Trust and Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities provided modified e-rickshaw food cart to Gauresh Marathe, a person with disability at an event at the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. “This e-rickshaw food cart is a step towards ensuring that individuals like Gauresh Marathe have the tools they need to succeed,” stated Subhash Phal Dessai, minister for department for Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities and Social Welfare while handing over the cart to Marathe who uses wheelchair for mobility. The event was attended by Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Varsha Naik, director, Department for Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities, Taha Haziq, secretary, Office of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and Sharad Pai, district governor of Rotary International District (RID) 3170, alongside Ann Padmaja Pai, first lady RID 3170, Rahul Rajani from Bhagwati Trust, Tanvi Sawant, club president, Maithili Nadkarni, club secretary, Gaurish Dhond and Clare Dsouza.
