Perpetual Convent, St. Jude's HS register wins

MARGAO: Perpetual Convent Navelim displayed strong attacking prowess to overpower St. Joseph's Institute Chandor 4-1 in the Founders Cup 2024 U-17 boys' 9-a-side football tournament,at the Chinchinim Church ground.

Vernon Cardozo opened the scoring for Perpetual in the 20th minute, but Jassman Peixoto found the equaliser for St. Joseph's just two minutes later. Jack Pires restored Perpetual's lead in the 25th minute, sending them into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. The second half belonged entirely to Perpetual Convent. Vernon and Jaden added two more goals to their tally.

In the second match, St Jude's High School Betalbatim got the better of Auxilium High School Benaulim in a close 2-1 contest. The first half was a defensive battle, ending scoreless. However, the second half saw a surge in goals. Kuldeep broke the deadlock for St. Jude's in the very first minute. Jasseel Vaz doubled their lead in the 15th minute. Auxilium High School refused to give up and pulled a goal back through Joydon Fernandes in the dying minutes of the match. However, it wasn't enough to snatch a point, as St Jude's secured a hard-fought 2-1 win.
