MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club prevailed over United Boys of Ambaulim 7-6 in a thrilling tie-breaker to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 1st Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy 2025, organised by Batora United Curtorim in association with Margao Sports Club, at the DSYA Ground in Curtorim on Thursday.
Both teams had early chances, with Garrison Fernandes of Raia SC missing an opportunity to score in the 6th minute, and Alfino Fernandes of United Boys of Ambaulim also failing to convert in the 10th minute. After a goalless draw in regular time, the match went into a penalty shootout.
In the tiebreaker, Raia Sporting Club showed superior composure and skill, emerging as the better shooters to clinch the victory.
The chief guest Savio Vaz, coach of Panjim Footballers, presented the Man of the Match award to Jake Meideira of Raia Sporting Club.
