MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Navelim Villagers Union on Wednesday at the DSYA ground, Curtorim, earning them a spot in the quarterfinals of the 14th Wilred Leisure Soccer Cup 2025.
Sao Jose de Areal dominated the first half, with Daryl Costa scoring a brace to give his team a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime. However, Navelim Villagers Union mounted a spirited comeback after the break. Noah Luis quickly scored two goals, leveling the score and injecting excitement into the match.
Despite Navelim's resurgence, Sao Jose de Areal rallied, and Brasel Viegas scored the decisive goal in the final quarter, sealing a 3-2 victory. Dayrl Costa's impressive performance, featuring two goals, earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by Anil Chougule.
